Emerald Chat is one of the best-known places to talk to strangers since Omegle closed in 2023. If you are looking for an Emerald Chat alternative, this page sets out what each site actually offers, where Emerald Chat is the better choice, and where ChatFly is. Everything about Emerald Chat below comes from its own homepage, which we read on 30 October 2026.

The short answer
Choose ChatFly if you want to start a random video or text chat in your browser without making an account, and you like having something to do together: ChatFly has chess, battleship, Connect 4, checkers, reversi and tic-tac-toe built into the chat.
Choose Emerald Chat if you want interest-based matching, a friends list and feed, group channels, or a phone app, and you do not mind creating an account. If you want gender, country or language filters, Emerald Chat sells those as part of its paid subscriptions; ChatFly does not offer them at all.

Where Emerald Chat is better
- Finding people like you. Emerald Chat matches by shared interests for free. ChatFly is purely random.
- Keeping in touch. Emerald Chat has friends, a feed and group channels. ChatFly has random one-to-one chats and public rooms, and does not keep a friends list.
- Filters. If choosing who you meet by gender, country or language matters to you, Emerald Chat offers that on its paid tiers. ChatFly has no such filters.
- Apps. Emerald Chat has official phone apps. ChatFly runs in the browser only.
- A bigger crowd. Random chat works best when lots of people are online at once. Emerald Chat is the larger and longer-running community.
Where ChatFly is better
- No account. Open chatfly.app, confirm you are 18+, and you are chatting. Nothing to register, no email or password.
- Something to do together. Awkward silence is the main reason people skip. On ChatFly you can invite the person you are talking to into a game of chess or battleship without leaving the chat. See games to play with strangers.
- Text-only without signup. Choose text chat if you would rather not be on camera.
- Clear, published prices. ChatFly's plans and limits are on its pricing section, including exactly what the free plan allows.
What each costs
ChatFly is free with 5 random matches an hour and 50 messages a day. Pro costs $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year and adds 50 matches an hour, unlimited messages to people, priority matching, HD 720p video, a custom name colour and a Pro badge. Business costs $19.99 a month and adds unlimited matches. You can cancel any time from Settings.
Emerald Chat says its core random chat is free and that subscription tiers unlock extra filters. Its homepage does not list a price, so we do not quote one here.
A note on bots and AI partners
Small chat sites often have quiet moments with nobody else online. When that happens on ChatFly, you may be matched with an AI chat partner instead of waiting. We tell you when the match starts, the partner is labelled AI in the chat, and you can press Skip at any time to look for a person. Emerald Chat says it has "0% bot tolerance." If talking only to people matters most to you, keep that difference in mind.
